This metamorphic rock was formed millions of years ago under extreme heat and pressure and continues to prove its durability in design additions across the world. If you are looking to make a unique, lasting statement then this is the flooring for you. At Africa Range, we supply a variety of high-quality marble suitable for interior and exterior environments.
Things to remember for your marble flooring
Firstly, it should always be reinforced with a sealer. Since this natural stone is porous by nature, it is left vulnerable to damage by spills if left unsealed. Treatment for the stone is necessary and should be reapplied to provide the stone with ongoing protection and to protect your investment.
Since the porosity of marble leaves it vulnerable to damage by acidic matter, any spills of this nature should be cleaned immediately as acidic products can cause permanent discolouration and ruin the colouring of this stone. Although sealant helps protect the stone from this, it is still important to be vigilant. Cleaning products with high acidity and chemicals should also be avoided. Cleaning should rather occur with mild soap and water.
Although polished marble is a stunning choice, it may not be an ideal finish for all areas. When wet, polished marble can be especially slippery, making it less suitable for kitchen and bathroom areas. If you would like to make use of marble flooring in your kitchen or bathroom space, we advise choosing a honed or brushed finish, as these ensure the marble is non-slip.
Marble may be one of the hardest materials commercially available, but mismanagement of this natural stone can still lead to cracks and chips. This is why it is essential to hire professionals for your installation.
The advantages of marble flooring
Natural beauty
Marble has natural durability that ensures long-lasting use for years to come, provided it is properly maintained. This natural stone is fire and erosion resistant, making it a durable building material suited for flooring. Marble can also withstand high traffic and is not easily damaged.
The reflective quality of this material makes it an attractive choice for flooring. The surface of this stone has a natural translucency that permits the penetration of light that adds to the depth of a room. Using this flooring can liven up your space and make it seem larger.
The versatility of marble pulls through to its variety of colour and pattern options. This natural stone offers a range of unique colours guaranteed to suit your space, each with its own unique pattens and varying depths of veining to solidify its elegance.
