Since the porosity of marble leaves it vulnerable to damage by acidic matter, any spills of this nature should be cleaned immediately as acidic products can cause permanent discolouration and ruin the colouring of this stone. Although sealant helps protect the stone from this, it is still important to be vigilant. Cleaning products with high acidity and chemicals should also be avoided. Cleaning should rather occur with mild soap and water.

Although polished marble is a stunning choice, it may not be an ideal finish for all areas. When wet, polished marble can be especially slippery, making it less suitable for kitchen and bathroom areas.
